Partner of Collins & Stephens in 1987

Chris graduated from Monash University in 1980 and became a partner of Collins & Stephens in 1987.

Chris heads up the firm’s commercial practice and also manages the day to day running of the firm and the firm’s associated debt collection company Traders Collection Services. In this role he leads the strategic direction of both Collins & Stephens and Traders.

Chris has 40 years’ experience in all areas of commercial and contractual disputes and in insolvency and debt recovery. He adopts a practical, commercially prudent approach to cases, rather than having a strictly legal focus. He has regularly appeared in all the relevant courts and has been involved in mentoring young lawyers through a lecturing role at Leo Cussen Institute.

Beyond the office, Chris enjoys family and home life, plays various sports and is a life member of the Collegians Amateur Football Club. He is a St Kilda Football Club tragic.

Nick joined Collins & Stephens in 2003 following graduation from the initial intake at Victoria University Law School and was admitted to practice in 2005.

Nick brought several years of prior experience in mercantile collections to his current practice, which focuses primarily on general commercial litigation matters, bankruptcy and insolvency.

Nick also has extensive experience dealing with statutory authorities and regularly appears in several court forums, including the Magistrates, County and Supreme Courts of Victoria, VCAT, the Federal Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia.

Away from work, Nick loves spending time with his family. He is an Essendon supporter and has a keen interest in music, reading, history and travel.
